We rode ours, from Hamilton Canada to California & back, on a stock seat. 600 odd mile days. Plenty of bike for a commuter. When I was looking for a bike my biggest factors were reliability, ease of maintenance, commuting, and sexy looks. Easy to maintain and do valve checks alone. Reliable and robust engine with excellent parts, and shaft drive so no fiddling with sprays and brushes. 50-60 mpg 5.5 gallons. The new Royal Enfield twins looks quite neat. Performance should be comparable. But Guzzi makes the V7 engines since 1977, they are known to be very reliable, while the Indian RE reputation is the opposite (through the years they were plagued with issues, the new ones are supposed to be better but who knows).
